Getting new kitchen appliances is exciting—whether it’s a refrigerator upgrade, a sleek new dishwasher, or a gas range. Proper appliance delivery prep prevents damage, delays, and costly return visits. Use this appliance installation checklist to ensure your home is ready.

1) Measure Your Space & Pathways

• Doorways & hallways: Measure every entry point, staircase, and hallway. A 36" fridge won’t fit through a 32" door.
• Cabinet cutouts: Confirm built-in openings for wall ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers.
• Clear a path: Move chairs, tables, rugs, or décor so installers have a safe route.

2) Protect Your Home During Delivery

• Protect floors: Lay down cardboard, floor runners, or old rugs along the path.
• Cover corners: Towels or corner guards help avoid wall scratches.
• Secure pets & kids: Keep them safely away during installation.

3) Prep Electrical, Water, & Gas Connections

• Electrical outlets: Verify the correct voltage and outlet type. Some ranges/ovens require 220V.
• Water lines: Ensure a shutoff valve is accessible for fridges with ice makers or dishwashers.
• Gas connections: Confirm a code-compliant shutoff valve and ready connection for gas ranges.

4) Plan for Old Appliance Removal

• Unplug/disconnect old appliances in advance.
• Empty refrigerators, dishwashers, and ovens before the crew arrives.
• Confirm whether haul-away includes recycling or disposal.

5) What to Expect on Delivery Day

• The team places appliances in your kitchen or laundry area.
• If installation is included, they connect utilities and run a quick test.
• If installation is not included, you may need a licensed plumber or electrician.

6) After Installation: Test & Register

• Run a rinse cycle on the dishwasher.
• Plug in the refrigerator and confirm cooling begins.
• Test each burner on the range.
